"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in
moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and
controversy."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Leadership today requires strong business acumen
plus the ability to adapt quickly to the ever changing business
environment. It also requires leaders to be able to motivate people
to take action through effective influencing skills. There is
no better place to test these skills than on the streets of New
York City, known for it’s gritty, “If you can make
it there you can make it anywhere” attitude.

For the Street Smart Leadership Challenge –
a large group will be broken down in smaller sub teams, they will
be given the specific details of their day, stripped of possessions
(other than identification, watch and cell phone), given their “leadership
survival kit” of resources and turned loose on the streets
of New York City. Each team will have two levels of tasks - several
“must do” tasks and a long list of opportunities to
“grow the business/earn dollars”. Throughout the day,
they will naturally encounter numerous obstacles including a few
“fabricated” roadblocks or hurdles. How will they respond?
How adaptable will they be? Will it affect their attitude? Will
they keep their organization fully informed? Through what method
will they communicate unexpected changes in their plan? If there
was a breakdown of integrity, how and why?
These questions will be answered by every team member
and through the video taped actions captured of each team!
Even the world's best known New Yorker has something
to say about the program!
